WELCOME to ROOM 204!
My name is Jackie Murphy and I teach third grade at Horizon Elementary School.
Here is a little background information about me. I grew up on a dairy farm in a small community called Armstrong which is located near Eden. I have 3 younger sisters and 1 younger brother. All of our names start with the letter "J" ! After I graduated from UW-Whitewater, I started teaching in Antigo. From there, I moved to the Minneapolis area to work as a live-in nanny for a family. Next, I moved back to Eden and taught at the elementary school. After that, I moved in with another family and worked as a nanny for 4 small boys. Finally, I started teaching in Plymouth, first at the Mulberry Bush and then at Horizon where I have been privileged to teach ever since.
I have a son, Kevin, who is now 18 and a daughter, Liz, who is 16. We also have 3 cats, (even though I'm really NOT a cat person). Their names are Walter, Nibbles and Baby. I am a 4-H leader and Kevin and Liz are very active at the FDL County Fair.
I am creative and love to work on all kinds of projects! I am a master gardener and LOVE the outdoors. I am also very curious and love to learn new things. All of my life experiences have helped formed me as a teacher. I do have a great sense of humor so I like to have fun in the classroom as we learn.
